About Author :-
Author Sidney Allen Morris (born 1947) is an Australian mathematicians. He graduated with a BSc(Hons) from the University of Queensland and a year later received a PhD from Flinders University.
He was employed by many famous universities, include the University of Queensland, the University of Adelaide, the University of Florida, the University of New South Wales, the University of Wales (through the UK Science Research Council), La Trobe University, Tulane University, Tel-Aviv University, the University of New England, the University of Wollongong, the University of South Australia, and the University of Ballarat. He held many position in these universities, including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, Professor, Research Professor, Head of Department, Head of School, Dean, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chair of Academic Board, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, and for some periods, Acting Vice-Chancellor and President.
He received the Lester R. Ford Award from the Mathematical Association of America. He also received an Outstanding Service award from the Australian Computer Society. He has published five books, including an online book used in 100 countries and translated into Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Korean, Persian, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish and more than 150 research papers.
His research is mainly in pure mathematics, specifically topological groups and topology, but includes sudden cardiac research, early detection of muscle wasting diseases, health informatics, electronic commerce, predicting the Australian stock exchange, and commercial consultancies valued at $3 million. His most recent book "The Structure of Compact Groups" appeared in 2013 and is a 900+ page research monograph coauthored with Karl Hofmann and was published by de Gruyter, a major international publisher. His previous book, also coauthored with Karl Hofmann, was published by the European Mathematical Society and is a 600 page research monograph. In 2016 he edited the book: "Topological Groups: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" published by MDPI. He is currently working with Karl Heinrich Hofmann on the preparation of the 4th edition of their book "The Structure of Compact Groups".
